General Manager - Riverwalk Golf Course: San Diego, CA
Located in the heart of San Diego's Mission Valley within minutes of Hotel Circle and area attractions, Riverwalk Golf Club's offers a 18 hole resort style full length par 72 course. Along with magnificent golf, superb amenities and outstanding service, Riverwalk Golf Club has earned recognition among San Diego's best and most fun golf courses to play. Other amenities include a double sided, night lit driving range and short game area; golf learning center offering a variety of golf instructional programs for juniors and adults, taught by a talented team of teaching professionals; and a beautiful clubhouse featuring a full service golf shop, delicious dining, and assortment of flexible indoor and outdoor event space available to the public - making the club an ideal setting for weddings, business meeting, golf tournament, fundraisers and other special events available for 300 people or more.
The General Manager will have operational responsibility for all aspects of the club including oversight of the golf and instruction operations, food & beverage, accounting, sales & marketing, and golf course maintenance. The General Manager will be tasked with operating the facility in compliance with Touchstone Golf’s expectations, policies, and procedures. In addition, the General Manager will develop and implement fiscal, operational, and business development plans and strategies, as well as administer operational standards and quality performance guidelines for all operating functions and Riverwalk Golf Club staff.
Candidate Profile:
- The candidate will have at least five years of experience in a management role of similar or greater capacity with commensurate golf courses.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to interact well with staff and guests, as well as a strong work ethic.
- Qualified candidates have a 2 or 4 year degree in hospitality, business, or management focus, and/or requisite certification from the PGA of America.
- Demonstrated experience in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, and staff management.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
- Must be an innovative thinker with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing service and business environment.
- Possesses strong leadership skills including recruiting, developing and retaining quality department heads and staff, and the ability to identify core competencies in co-workers.
- Skills required include a level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), point of sale systems and experience with EZ Links software, or similar club based software.
- Highly developed interpersonal communications skills with demonstrated quality of written and verbal skills.
- Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
- Oversight of all activities at Riverwalk Golf Club on a day-to-day basis.
- Hiring, training, and ongoing support of the department head staff consisting of the course Superintendent, Golf Professionals, Merchandise Manager, Food & Beverage leadership staff, Bookkeeper, and other key staff members.
- Lead weekly department head meetings, periodic department meetings, and annual all staff meetings.
- Oversee the hiring and training of all frontline staff members to ensure a superior level of guest service throughout the facility.
- Create and implement systems to ensure consistent execution of a first class experience on a day to day basis.
- Provide appropriate leadership, direction, supervision, and guidance to staff in accord with Touchstone Golf expectations and company culture to promote positive employee morale and performance quality.
- Direct, coordinate and monitor the development of the facility’s annual business plan and operating/capital budgets. Monitor and evaluate financial performance relative to budget goals and objectives. Analyze budget variances, develop and implement action plans to achieve appropriate business adjustments.
- Oversight of ‘back of the house’ operational responsibilities including accounting, staff scheduling, and payroll management, as well as other administrative duties as required.
